Covering diseases of the head and face as well as mental/emotional diseases, this book is unique in that it includes many diseases otherwise not discussed by other books, such as an ashen black facial complexion and numbness of the scalp. It also includes patterns under each disease not included in most other books, such as damp heat as a cause of night sweats.

Therefore, this book is a valuable clinical reference for the treatment of all the peculiar symptoms and unusual disease mechanisms Western patients so typically manifest. Treatments given for each pattern under each disease include Chinese medicinal formulas and modifications as well as acupuncture/moxibustion protocols with modifications.
