Overview, diagnosis and treatment of 40 common diseases with examples.
The purpose of this textbook is to satisfy the needs of overseas students who come to China to study traditional Chinese medicine, and those who are interested in TCM all over the world. Under the guidance of Editorial Committee of University Textbook of TCM for Overseas Advanced Students, the textbook is completed by the experts who have engaged for many years in teaching Internal Medicine of TCM to overseas students.
This textbook is based on the textbook of Internal Medicine of TCM adopted by Chinese TCM colleges with some adjustments, extraction and supplements in its style and contents in order to make it suitable for overseas students. In the introduction, the features of TCM are supplemented, while in the texts, forty diseases are discussed and each disease is discussed under the items of General, Etiology and Pathogenesis, Diagnosis and Discrimination, Selecting Treatment by Differentiating Syndromes, Summary and Discussions. In compiling the textbook, our efforts have been made to get General clear and accurate, Etiology and Pathogonesis concise, Diagnosis and Discrimination brief and practical, while in Selecting Treatment by Differentiating Sydromes, Main Points of Defferentiation, Pathogenesis and Nursing Points are supplemented aiming to bring out the essentials, lay stress on the key points and relect the features, Summary in a chart-form which makes the general idea of each text clear at a glance and easy to remember; Discussions are meant to lay out the key and difficult points to help the students to study independently; Recipe Index and Disease Index are attached at the end of the textbook.
Considering that many overseas students have some knowledge of Western Medicine, relative disease names by Western Medicine are included in General and Main Points of Deferentiation for their reference. The Disease Index is aimed at helping the students to master the laws and features of 'treating the same disease with different methods and vice versa' by means of making inter-references of TCM and Western Medicine.
