Also called San Zhen Therapy - it is a form of acupuncture that utilizes uniquely formulated and grouped-up acupuncture points in the treatment of syndromes, diseases & related symptoms.- By Ganglinm Yin and Di Fu (2002) 211 pages
Three needles in this context refer to the three selected points from the 14 regular meridians system and extraordinary points; only two selected points with one being on the midline of the anterior or posterior of the body. In the case of two selected points, the one off the midline is usually needled bilaterally, which still leaves three points to be punctured. When three needles are selected, points may or may not be punctures bilaterally. This form of therapy has become an increasingly popular form of acupuncture in China and other parts of the world. In the past 20 years in china, a new school of thoughts called ‘three needle therapy’ has emerged, and the great success achieved by some acupuncture physicians has aroused increasing interests in this therapy.
