Dick Wicks is an extraordinary man. He came as close as anyone can come to death when he stopped breathing on the operating table, during on of two dozen operations he has had to endure.

Diagnosed with a rare and incurable disease, Reflex Sympathetic Dystropht Syndrome, Dick spent eight nightmarish years and 26 visits to hospitals around the world trying to beat the biting pain which racked his body and forced him into a wheelchair.

Fifteen years on, on the eve of his 70th birthday, Dick has revived so remarkably that he works, plays golf and once again enjoys the company of his old mates from a lifetime in sport.
