In this new version of the handbook, the pharmacological action of the Chinese herbs and formulas are added. The herbal formulas are arranged alphabetically according to the pin-yin system. The ingredients of each formula are arranged in groups and in the order of importance.

The principal ingredient is generally the first one or two on the list. Most of these formulas are made into patent formulas, and are sold over the counter in the herb stores in China and all over the world. The generic name are given to facilitate the ordering or purchase of the procucts from the herbal stores, health food stores, and pharmaceutical companies.

Any person interested in both Western medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine will find this book very helpful. The pharmacological action and indication are explained in TCM and modern medical terms.
