Description

Contains over 3000 entries, each of which is minutely explained in English. - By Shuai Xuezhong. (1997) 393pp

In recent years, the Chinese-English dictionaries of traditional Chinese medicine have been continually published. Although they include acupuncture terms, these terms are quite limited that they cannot meet the need of acupuncture specialty. Hence, it is actually an urgent task to translate or compile an acupuncture dictionary.

It is nothing easy to translate an acupuncture dictionary into English or compile it in English. This is because the translators or compilers can hardly find out the corresponding English words and expressions. Yhey have to search for them widely and repeatedly deliberate them.

This requires the translators to masters not only English but also acupuncture. Prof. Shuai is the one of them. He is an eminent English specialist for traditional Chinese medicine in China and has been frequently in charge of English translation for international acupuncture conferences.

Being responsible for English teaching and research in the acupuncture department for dozens of years, he has a deeper understanding of acupuncture academy. Ten years ago, he was once in charge of compilation and translation of Chinese-English Terminology of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which has been warmly welcome by the readers.

Nowadays, he is onde again in charge of compiling and translating 'A Practical English Dictionary of Acupuncture'.It contains over 3,000 entries, each of which is more minutely explained in English.

It is very suitable for the medical practitioners' need in study on Chinese acupuncture. As for the translators of English for Chinese acupuncture it is also a must. I believe that it will certainly promote the popularization of acupuncture over the world and make the essence of Chinese acupuncture understood by the people the world over.
