Description

This book defines the physiology and anatomy of the craniosacral system, its function in health and its relationship to disease process. - By J. Upledger. (1999) 367pp

The concept of the craniosacral system, its pathological significance and healing capabilities, was first recognized over 50 years ago. But, for nearly half a century, the craniosacral concept has been surrounded by an aura of mystery and has neither been accepted not understood by the orthodox medical community.

Now, however, this concept of dynamic activity involving cranial bones, meningeal membranes, cerebrospinal fluid, the intracranial vascular system, the movement of body fluids and the function of total body connective tissues is presented in a clear and comprehensible fashion.

This book defines the physiology and anatomy of the craniosacral system, its function in health and its relationship to disease processes. The craniosacral concept, including many observed but previously unexplained phenomena and clinical syndromes, is discussed with clarity and precision. Methods to extend the range and depth of palpatory skills are described in a practical manner.

Through dynamic illustrations and incisive text, numerous techniques to assist the self-correcting craniosacral mechanism are explained and demonstrated. These techniques apply craniosacral methodology not only to the cranial and sacral areas but also to the trunk, neck and extremities. Methods for diagnosis and treatment by whole body response are described. The book also puts the craniosacral concept to practical use through discussions of its application in the treatment of diseases that affect the various organ systems.

Anyone who uses the hands as diagnostic or therapeutic tools will find this book to be a fascinating and instructive in-depth look at this exciting field of healing.
