Volume 2: The Lower Body. Provides an invaluable source of reference to all manual therapy students and practitioners. - By Leon Chaitow & J. Walker DeLany (2002) 598 pages.
Clinical Application of Neuromuscular Techniques - the Lower Body is the companion volume to the widely acclaimed book by the same authors on The Upper Body. Volume 1 focuses on the management of the soft tissues of the upper body (the cervical region, cranium, shoulder, arm and hand and the thorax). Volume 2 addresses the problems of the lower body (lumbar spine, sacrum and pelvis, hip, leg and foot). Together the two volumes present the theories and techniques of manual treatment for chronic neuromuscular pain throughout the body.
The theory and practical application of neuromuscular techniques is described within the context of the normal anatomy and physiology of the related structures. Step by step protocols are given for each muscle to be treated and particular reference is made to the treatment of trigger points. The book is illustrated with numerous two-colour diagrams and photographs which make the anatomy and techniques described in the text easier to understand.
