The incorporation of acupuncture treatment into general practise is a difficult enough task without combining this process with the new organisational concept in social medicine. The Limes Grove practise is a brave experiment in which acupuncture plays an important role. Whether the reader agrees or disagrees with the radical views expressed by the authors, this book challenges the medical profession to re-think their own attitudes.

Recent BMA enquires into complementary medicine, following the speech by the Prince of Wales and the ensuing press comment on the subject, have also demostrated the need for a new approach. Nevertheless, the controversial views contained in this book should not cloud its usefulness as an introduction to acupuncture. This report and statistics are among the most thorough so far published.
